Ark City Lions Club Remembers

The evening Lions Club Chartered in 1922, know that 10’s of thousands of dollars have been sent to Kansas because of flood’s in Coffeyville, Independence, Fredonia and Iola.  Tornado’s in Harveyville, Reading and Greensburg and also wild fires in around Hutchinson and South Western Kansas.  Their membership knows how much it means to the people that are affected when a disaster hits and help is given.  In 1998, Ark City was a recipient of flood disaster grant for people in our city and they haven’t forgotten.  They know how important it is to the people in their times of need and that is why the Club, believes in helping their neighbors.  That is why the evening Lions gave $1,000.00 to Hurricane Harvey victim’s, through Lions International Foundation (LCIF).   All of the donations (100%) go as directed.  Lions know that disaster can affect anyone’s community, whether it’s halfway around the world or right at home. That’s why in the last 10 years, LCIF has provided more than US$100 million for disaster relief programs worldwide.

Most all grants from Lions International Foundation (LCIF) are in the amount of $10,000 for per disaster relief and goes up to $100,000.00 or more as needed for major disasters such as earthquake’s, tsunami’s, hurricane’s, typhoon’s and other disasters, such as mud slides.  These funds come from donations by clubs, like the Arkansas City Evening Lions Club.
